How to close cover letter for a job fair with immediate hiring?

I’m attending a Job Fair tomorrow and from my understanding, the employer is hiring immediately and expects applications to be submitted in the form of a cover letter and resume. If they’re going to interview me on the spot, it seems kind of silly to close with something about my availability for an interview or whatever, but without it I’m at a total loss as to how to end it. Any suggestions?

Hi for a formal letter where you don’t know the name of the person it would be Dear Sir/Madam and you would sign off yours faithfully. If you know the name of the person it would be Dear Mrs Employer and you sign off yours sincerely. If it is not so formal sign off Regards and then your name underneath. Can foreign china-university student find job and work in China after they graduated?

I’m a foreign student in one of university in China, I’m wondering after I finish my bachelor degree for 4 years, can I Find a Job here and continue to work or whether i should go straight directly home to my country?

of course, you can, and I am pretty sure that you can get a job in China. the actual job will depend on what subject you are doing at this moment. Some foreign enterprises in China will definitely need someone like you to bridge the communication within the workforce. The problem is that you will have to get a employer who can sponsor your working visa, and you may be required to lodge your Z type visa application offshore to get a temporary entry permit; and within one month you will have to change it into the formal working visa after a physical examination and local police registration. Some people fly to Hong Kong to complete their visa deal.
Anyway, good luck to you. it could be easier to get some Chinese friends to help you. make friends first, and then ask for helps. this will save your money. remember, "agent sucks".

What is a short term training career that pays good?

I heard radiology technician, respiratory therapy technician, RN nurse, all this can be completed in a couple of years and are very rewarding professionally and $$$, is anyone taking or planning to take this type of training, what do you think so far?

Nursing. There are so many different fields that you could go into, that don’t necessarily involve patient care, if you are not really keep on the gross part of it. You could be a radiology nurse, school nurse, educator, so many options. Bottom line is they all pay really well.

Teaching Overseas – Should you Register at an International Teaching Job Fair?

When you consider that there may be 100 schools represented and 400 pre-screened candidates, your chances of securing a teaching position at an international school is high. Additionally, many of the top schools will only consider interviewing candidates who are pre-screened by a recruiting agency.

Whether or not you decide to register with a job fair might depend on your ability to get to where one is being held. Job fairs are held at locations worldwide, with a particular concentration in North America and the United Kingdom. Some of the organisations hosting the job fairs do not charge participants to attend, they make their money from charging the recruiters.

There are several organisations that hold job fairs for international teachers. International School Services (ISS), Search Associates and the Council of International Schools (COIS) are three of them that hold job fairs around the world. These organisations pre-screen the candidates and invite those candidates that meet the criteria published on their websites to attend their job fairs. You can go to their websites and check if you meet their criteria.

Both ECIS and Search Associates are very professional and experienced in their approach to organising job fairs, and it shows at their events.

Recruiters rely on these organisers to cut out the unqualified or undesirable candidates. They turn away many candidates each year, so you should feel proud if you are invited to attend one of these fairs; it’s the first step to getting a contract at the fair.

COIS

COIS do not charge candidates to attend their job fairs. The recruiters do pay a fee to attend.

COIS job fairs are held from February through to June in the UK and in North America. The requirements for becoming registered with COIS are available on their website and include:

* A current teaching certification/ qualification

* Three professional referees, one of which must be your current head teacher

* 2 year’s experience

* Candidates should be willing to consider being placed anywhere in the world.

The dates and venues and application deadlines for the COIS job fairs for 2007 are available on their website and the deadline for applications for their first job fair is January 18th.

Search Associates

Search offer an online application process and a number of job fairs in a variety of geographical locations. Before completing an application you can go through a self-screening checklist on their website to determine how competitive you will be in the job market.

Search charge candidates $US150 to register, which is good for 3 years if you don’t find an overseas position in your first recruitment season. Search offers a number of job fairs and your registration fee covers your attendance at one fair per registration period (of up to 3 years). You can attend more than one for an additional fee of $US 50 per fair. Should you find your new position through Search Associates, there is an additional placement fee of $US 300.

On application Search will assign you an ‘associate’ to give you personal service.

Once you are registered, your resume will be posted online for recruiters to peruse. It is vital that you go log in to the site and update your resume at least every 30 days or your resume might be pulled off the site.

Teachers in Australia and New Zealand can attend one of the Information Seminars offered by Search. These seminars are held throughout Australia and New Zealand in order to provide information for people interested in teaching overseas, and to pre-screen potential candidates prior to the Search job fair in Sydney. Check their website for details.

Search offer two specialised placement services aimed at teachers with experience in either the IB system or the British National Curriculum, see their website for more details.

The dates and venues of the Search Associates Job Fairs for 2007 are on the Search Associates website and their first job fair is being held in Australia in January.

ISS

ISS charge candidates $US175 to establish a professional file with them. If your application is not accepted by them, they will refund $US125, and they do not charge a placement fee if you accept a position at one of the Job Fairs they host.

ISS job fairs are held in January, February, and March. The requirements for establishing a file with ISS are available on their website and include:

* A 4 year bachelor’s degree

* 2 year’s experience

* Candidates should be willing to consider being placed in two continents.

The ISS name for a job fair is International Recruitment Centre (IRC).

ISS are holding three IRCs in 2007, the first one will be held in Bangkok in January.

ISS say that ‘typically 50 percent of those who attend accept positions as a result.’

These are the big three of the recruitment organisations for teachers looking at a career in international teaching and participation in one of their job fairs can kick start you onto a new and exciting career path. It can sure beat searching through job advertisements and sending out your application pack 100 times.

Before You Write That Resume or Start That Job Search, Get a New Career Perspective

With the bleak outlook that the media are giving to the job market in 2009, as a job search coach and resume writer, I am hoping that out of it we can finally put to rest some misconceptions that I believe have really been plaguing professionals for a while and that have a lot to do with the improper outlook many of us have in regard to our careers.

For one, I am hoping that we can finally put to rest the idea that some company will protect you and provide for you for your entire career. Personally, I don’t believe that companies should have ever been put in that position in the first place, nor should they have promised the farm to their workers (pensions for life, health care benefits for life).

Now a lot of retired workers are having to face the reality that these companies cannot deliver on these promises, and of course, these retirees are not prepared for that. And why should they be?

So certainly anyone under the age of 45 should kiss goodbye the idea that some Fortune 100 or 500 or 1000 or 10,000 is going to keep you comfortable through retirement.

Most professionals today can expect to undergo at least 4 job searches throughout their career. For some reason, when I work with job seekers, they always seem surprised to hear that. I’m not sure why because that average has been true for quite some time now.

Second, it’s been a long time in this country since small businesses (by that I mean truly small, mom-and-pop-type firms) have flourished. I look around my NY neighborhood now, and my wife and I are the only entrepreneurs out of 150 homes. I can almost segment all the people in our development into the government, health care, school district, telecommunications, and finance markets. Historically, when unemployment goes up and jobs are scarce, people get creative and small businesses form. Not all of them succeed, true, but some do.

I know what you may be thinking, “Not everyone can be an entrepreneur.” Perhaps, but when it comes to careers today, whether you open up a mom-and-pop shop or enter the corporate world, you would be wise to apply entrepreneurial principles to your career. First and foremost, an entrepreneur recognizes that to succeed, he or she must be adaptable and ahead of the curve.

Third, maybe we can finally end our overdependence on benefits in this country. With the cost of health care increasing each year, I hear more and more job seekers placing medical benefits among the top-if not the number 1-considerations of their job search. Although health care is certainly important to all of us, making it number 1 is not a good idea primarily because it causes us to become prisoners to our jobs and to these corporations who may be well meaning in regard to their benefits packages but not necessarily able to follow through when the time comes.

Fundamentally, I think that most of us just want to find a place that is comfortable, will provide for us, and will continually give us new opportunities and challenges. Again, I am not sure where this idea comes from, but when our careers don’t pan out that way and the company we hung our hat on doesn’t live up to these expectations, then we suffer major disappointment.

Maybe as Americans we are just dreamers. And we want to believe that if we just go to work and do a good job everyday, that we will receive our due. It sounds nice in theory, but if it ever really existed, it certainly does not anymore.

Personally, I think that once you get a hold of that, it frees you up to pursue so many other opportunities. So I am hoping that as we enter into 2009, we can lay aside these dreams and form new ones steeped in the reality of not just today’s job market but the job market we have really had for the last decade or so.
